Went home for mother’s birthday. Her birthday is also the day she was married to my father. How old I am now plus one year equals the number of years that they have been together. It has been a long time really. You don’t notice how fast the years go by. I have just celebrated my first wedding anniversary.
Anyhow, I decided to bring my laptop so that I could do some work. Blasted laptop the wireless connection is broken. How long I have had this laptop? Not sure. If my memory serves me corretly, I think I bought this lappy around October of 2008.
It’s a Dell 1520. Bought it in Sm Cebu branch. It has a gray removable cover. I had wanted for a pink cover but it was the last of its stock. The sales representative assured me that there was going to be another stock of covers so I could order a new one. But what a heck, I have not gone back since that day.
I think I have a reason now to visit the store again. But not because I want to get a new cover although I might. It’s because if husband cannot fix the wireless connection for this, I’ll be force to have this checked. I hope I’m still within warranty.
I also need to get a new set of battery. The original batteries have long expired a year ago. I suspect it was because I was using the battery and at the same time plugging it in the electrical socket. Husband and a friend who was a technical representative of Dell in one of the call centers of the country have conflicting ideas about using the battery and electrical power at the same time.
Husband told me to plug it since I use if for long hours so that it won’t drain the battery. According to him, draining the battery empty can ruin the laptop. So I took heed but barely a year after I bought the laptop, the battery didn’t work anymore.
That was when I remember what the tech friend had told me. That using the laptop or the battery that way would cause it to break down. And I guess what she said is slowly happening now to my laptop.
Good thing I can still connect directly to the modem. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t. I didn’t carry 3 kg of its weight for nothing. Arrgh!
